WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of the item by +3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless the item upgrades has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the necessity to roll to get a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can be used to create Enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in every major city, and can be visited at any time to upgrade your gear. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every several weeks.

The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current level of the gear being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than purchasing new gear from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are useful items that can be used to upgrade weapons, tools, armor, and other accessories. They can be purchased by players from NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for different currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any tool, weapon or armor. button, which will display an item's preview when it is upgraded when the player has enough materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the item slot and current item upgrades level, with weapons costing more than bracers or gloves, for instance. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Some upgrades offer discounts on Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.

A lot of locations offer upgraders for items in addition to the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon and the chance to obtain a new recipe. The discount for upgrading increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players complete certain achievements or quests.

Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no upgrader for items available at the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are available only via a variety of ways. This is both a benefit and a disadvantage.

Crests

Players have several options for upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an item that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.

The first thing to note is that crests can only be used on gear of a specific rank, and that each rank has different requirements for upgrading. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade route costs 15 crests while the most complicated can require as much as 20 crests depending on the type of gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through completing content of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons of any difficulty for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for gear that is used in the endgame. These crests can be exchanged with an upgrader such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and pathways.

The new currency system isn't difficult to use, but it brings some changes to the upgrade process. For instance, when an item upgrading is at the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This is to allow players to upgrade their equipment up to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.

Another notable modification is that crests have one use therefore it's essential to use them properly. For instance it's a good idea utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the top gear you have available and save Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan on making.
