WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the item level by +3. A random additional substat is also increased with every upgrade.

Upgraded gear generally sees higher trade value regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or a very high stat variation (like the eth titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect model.

Recycle Points

The item upgrades upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. However, the item used for the upgrade will be consumed forever and can't be used again. Upgrades can be applied to the enchantments.

You can upgrade item your gear anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every few weeks, to ensure that your equipment is up-to-date.

The cost of upgrades will depend on the current level of the gear being upgraded, but will always be cheaper than purchasing new gear from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest up to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapons, armor, tools, and accessory upgrades. They are purchased by players through item upgrader NPCs in exchange for various currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any weapon, tool, or armor. The button will display the item level upgrade's next level of upgrade, if there are enough materials.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the item slot, and the current item upgrading level. For example weapons are more expensive than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Certain upgrades provide discounts on Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain degree it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.

Many locations have upgraders for their items in addition to the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon and a possibility of getting the latest recipe. The discount for upgrades increases according to the number of items that are being upgraded, and can be boosted by requiring players to complete specific achievements or complete quests.

Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no upgrader for items available at the start of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades are acquired via a variety of means which is both an improvement and a drawback.

In Season 3 the upgrade system has been modified a bit, and numerous new features added. Once an upgrade has been completed to a certain item level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same level, will cost less. This is even if the items come from an entirely different set of equipment.

The amount of Valorstones needed to upgrade is reduced and the discount is available across all accounts. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players have reached certain milestones in their achievements.

Crests

Players have a variety of options for upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specialized, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an important element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.

First, you must be aware that the crests can only be purchased for gear of a certain rank. Each rank has distinct upgrade paths. The simplest and simplest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade requires up to 20 crests, contingent on the type of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by finishing tasks at the appropriate level. For instance it's a good idea to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the best equipment you have, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you're planning to make. This is particularly relevant for trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character which will only be able to take advantage of the account-wide discount if all of the slots are filled with top-quality gear.
