The best robotic mop and vacuum robot cleaner Hoover

The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention. It leaves your floors spotless. Its surprisingly affordable price and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.

Be sure to check your robot's brushes for tangled hair as well as large debris and clean them as needed. Some models also self-empty their onboard dustbin into a larger one at the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobots (including the top model) they employ smart mapping to produce precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles such as cords and furniture leg. They also have a feature called carpet boost that increases the robot's power when it spots the presence of dirt on the carpet to get it clean quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on floors that were bare and are especially adept at cleaning dog hair. However, they do have a few flaws that keep them from being our top pick. For instance, the Q5's navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology and is therefore prone to getting hung up on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.

It's still a good value for those whose home or office has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save some money. It's also very quiet and can be used while you are at work or at school. The only thing it's missing that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. And it's less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on well and aren't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle, however. If you're required to mop, the mopping pad can be changed for one that is wet in just a few minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a compact, sleek package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean and effective in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also comes with self-emptying dustbins, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, though it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensor technology that can stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time to offer more efficient cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and customize zones using the app that is well-designed. It has a battery lifespan that is similar to other models.

You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when in a carpeted area which prevents cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also great for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could clean an entire home, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It also did a good job cleaning a variety of floors and rooms that had various flooring types, such as some area rug. Its obstacle detection was excellent and it stayed clear of fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles of cables.

It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically fills up its base, and it supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

This mop and vacuum combination is sleek and has a circular design that looks much like a Roomba model than the bulky models of the competitors. It's one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is its most advanced, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop that has 100% in our testing due to a mix of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has a simple mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's still quite a noisy unit, which can be a problem if you run it in the morning before work or at night as you try to sleep.

It's also quite expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's extremely powerful, but it's going to cost you more and create more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum and mop. It has a range of features that are advanced and will make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes the care of mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank and washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to create floorplans and identify obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its competitors with premium features. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time, though this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.

Its vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to complete the task. It also has a feature known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas in the house based on how dirty these areas are.

If you own a larger home, it is worth selecting a robot that comes with the option of cleaning zones or spots. This allows you to inform the robot of which area of your house needs to be cleaned using the app or voice command. A stair mode can be beneficial if you have number of furniture. Finally a recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum take over exactly where it left off is ideal for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you would imagine from its price. It is a good vacuum cleaner, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad that uses an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other robot mop cleaners we've tried. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying base that is washable.

The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate a mapping run that collects data on your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, plan an area for cleaning or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms for better performance. The app also grants access to a variety of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it can reach corners and under furniture more easily. It is equipped with a powerful 8000 Pascal suction, as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. And you can set up a spot cleaning that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, but it's more likely to get stuck on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums we have examined. It also has a less intuitive app and a tiny base station that can't be used as an emptying bin.
