Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade

The statistics of an item are enhanced by upgrading it, which is also known as "upping". Each upgrade increment gives a linear increase in a given stat.

Most upgrade components inserted into items are not able to be replaced or salvaged without removing the gear in question, with the exception of legendary equipment and upgrades. If you have a glyph or rune you don't want to use but it hasn't been applied to gear yet, you can move the item to a different piece by using the Upgrade Glyphs menu on the Glyphs Panel. This will create a Glyph Set that includes the chosen glyph.

You can remove a glyph by using a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. This will cause the item to be destroyed in which it is installed but you will be able to salvage the upgraded item with the glyph and its shards, therefore, it shouldn't be considered a loss.

Adding a glyph to an item could cause it to become unstable and the shards that are left of that glyph will disappear from your inventory when you remove the item. You can also apply an inscription to your equipment to add an extra benefit. Deferred Damage, for example can be used to store damage and then be dealt out slowly to the wearer instead of all at once. Reroll tokens
