Path of Exile Item Upgrading

The ability to upgrade items allows players to improve their weapons and gear by adding new affixes that boost its stats base or providing additional benefits. To upgrade an item, the player needs to have it in their inventory as well as access to the kiln.

Typically objects with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base, whereas items with strong bases such as Eth titans don't change much in their stats after being upgraded.

Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armors trinkets, weapons, and gathering tools. They give you an attribute benefit, or additional effect, when the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors, or found as loot gathered by enemies or gotten from missions and chests. Certain upgrades also have cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level before they are upgraded.

To upgrade the quality of a weapon, armor or other item in the game, the player will have to select it and then click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will show a preview on the right side of the screen showing what the expected upgrade statistics will be, as well as the necessary component or material needed to complete the upgrade.

There are three types of upgrade components including universal upgrades, prefix upgrades and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, which include gems, are able to be used in any kind of equipment and provide smaller bonuses than upgrade components that are type-restricted. Infusions, which can only be placed in gear that is ascended and legendary equipment are similar to gems, but offer higher bonuses and are not able to be placed in any other type of equipment. Suffix upgrades are able to be placed in gathering tools, add their names to the end of the name of the item they are connected to, for example adding the word Glyph to the Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would make it a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.

In the case of upgrades for gathering tools, if a player replaces one glyph with another the previous glyph will be returned to the inventory. If you replace any other upgrade component the item will be destroyed, with the exception for inscriptions, which can be freely swapped.

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade process differs from the previous versions in a few important ways. Gear is now categorised in tracks, and each item is able to be upgraded a certain number of times before it is "leveled out." The upgrade costs increase with each level, however the materials required for upgrades do not. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a few key items and maximize their impact rather than spreading out the upgrade costs across several items.

To measure the height of a building, engineers will employ a level to compare the measurement to an established reference point like a benchmark or the elevation of the ground. This process is called a "level loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod, and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method guarantees that the buildings are constructed with the highest degree of precision and security.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of changing the upgrade components of an item upgrader. It is a crucial aspect of the game, and it can boost the damage, strength, or other attributes. This can be done through the Best item upgrade menu or using the Reroll button on an upgraded item. Rerolling items can be costly and should be used sparingly.

Reroll tokens are obtained by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can be used to upgrade Item the original Best item upgrade or another similar item. Recyclable items have a gauge that shows the level of upgrade. The rarity and the cost of upgrading an item determines the level of filling.

In the past, certain upgrade items were affixed with priority that made them easier to roll for than others. It meant that you'd get the most crucial stats to your build more frequently than others. This included things like the armor's total armor, thorns and duration reduction stats that are controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.

This was changed with the recent patch. Priority affixes are no longer required and all upgrades will have the same chances of rolling for all stats. This can be either good or bad, based on what you're looking to get from your equipment.

Each upgraded item may be equipped with a special bonus that boosts the item's power by a fixed percentage or flat value. These bonuses are rolled in addition to the usual affixes. The more you upgrade an item, the better the chance of receiving the bonus of your choice.
